PalmSource DevCon is Comin'
Monday, January 19, 2004
I was reminded today about the upcoming PalmSource DevCon in San Jose as I learned about 10 DevCon tickets going up for sale on eBay relatively cheaply. If you're interested in going to the DevCon at the San Jose Fairmont this coming February 10-12, 2004 this might be a nice way to go without paying the normal $695 entry fee. As I write this the current bid is around $123 per ticket. There is also a chance more will go on eBay in the coming weeks -- if so, I'll try to post updated info here on them.
Here's some PR that's mentioned on the eBay auction:
The PalmSource Developer Conference 2004 gives you an in-depth look at the new features of the Palm OS—the platform for mobility. Get an insider's look at the vision and direction for PalmSource, Inc., predictions for the mobile devices industry, and the first uncensored look at the next-generation platform for mobility-Palm OS 6.
You'll also have the unique opportunity to network with other developers, talk with experienced Palm OS engineers, meet personally with Palm OS licensees, and see the new Palm Powered mobile devices that are generating so much buzz.
Update 2004-01-22: There are even more tickets up for bid on eBay, listed here!
Good luck bidders! :-)
Also, related to these eBay'ed tickets, I wanted to mention that I am already going to be at the convention as a member of the Palm OS User Council. As I did last year, I'll be keeping a DevCon travelogue, posting each day's events here on my weblog. In case you're curious what these look like, here's my Palm DevCom Day One, Day Two, Day Three and Day Four entries from May, 2003. I really enjoy doing these travelogues, so I'm looking forward to this trip for Palm and travelogue reasons. ;-)
I plan on carrying my Moleskine sketchbook along for some sketches, which I hope to scan in for presentation here when I get home (or while I'm there, if I can scrounge up a scanner). Sketches should add a nice dimension to my written travelogues.
Finally, if you are already planning to be at the PalmSource DevCon, I'd love to try and meet you for a coffee. My days are going to be stacked to the ceiling with activity, but I'd like to at least try and meet a few fellow Palm-fans after hours, if possible. Just drop me a line, using the prefix DevCon in the subject, and let's see what works out.
